Jalyn Courtenay Webb- A favorite performer and vocal coach throughout Colorado for the past 25 years, Ms. Webb has worked with Midtown Arts Center as Madame Thenardier in LES MISERABLES (nominated for True West Best Supporting Actress, Henry Award nominated for Best Musical and Best Musical Direction), Bloody Mary in SOUTH PACIFIC (Henry Award nominated for Best Supporting Actress), Mrs. Lovett in SWEENEY TODD, Gladys in MEMPHIS, Justice in ROCK OF AGES, The Bird Woman/Miss Andrew in MARY POPPINS, Louise in ALWAYS PATSY CLINE, Emma Goldman in RAGTIME, Miss Lynch in GREASE and she has music directed nearly every show at Midtown since 2013.
Ms. Webb holds a B.A. in Music Theatre from the University of Northern Colorado and was the National Anthem singer for the Colorado Avalanche from 1996-98. Ms. Webb has taught throughout Colorado, and teaches all ages. She began teaching as an assistant to the director of the Colorado Academy of the Arts, and continued to teach there for over 10 years. She also taught in Fort Collins at Washington Core Elementary School, where she developed core knowledge curriculum and was asked to present her lesson plans at the National Core Knowledge Convention. Ms .Webb also was the director of vocal jazz at CSU for 2 years and developed a show choir that toured Colorado, as well as maintaining a private studio. She has taught privately for over 25 years, and is known for her positive coaching style and her use of act/sing technique to truly develop the emotional connection between the singer and the material.
Currently, she acts as vocal coach and music director at Midtown Arts Center and coaches performers across Colorado for auditions and shows. Ms. Webb also teaches at Greeley Central High School and has directed and music directed several shows there since 2007. Ms. Webb is the owner and director of The Academy at Midtown Arts Center, offering classes for students 5-18 years old in music, theatre and dance.
Ms. Webb is the recipient of the Henry Award for best leading actress in a musical in 2018 for her role as Louise in ALWAYS PATSY CLINE at Midtown Arts Center. She currently teaches Music Theatre at the University of Northern Colorado and recently starred in MY WAY, the music of Frank Sinatra, which she also directed and music directed.
