Tony-nominated actor, Alex Brightman, solidified himself as a Broadway star for his performance in the role of ‘Dewey Finn’ in the hit musical adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s SCHOOL OF ROCK.  David Rooney from the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER wrote, “With his indefatigable comic energy and explosive physicality, Brightman makes a winning scoutmaster. The actor is bracingly in the moment at all times.”  Most recently Alex has been collaborating with famed, Tony-nominated director Alex Timbers on a musical adaptation of the blockbuster film, BEETLEJUICE

On television, Alex can be seen in the pilot episode of Showtime’s acclaimed series SMILF, written and directed by Frankie Shaw. Alex has also appeared on USA’s ROYAL PAINS and on Comedy Central’s IMPORTANT THINGS WITH DEMETRI MARTIN, and will next be seen in an upcoming episode of THE GOOD FIGHT.

Alex’s Broadway debut came in spring 2008 in James Gardiner and Nick Blaemire’s GLORY DAYS. He later took on the role of ‘Boq’ in the Tony Award-winning and best-selling musical, WICKED.  He has also appeared on Broadway in Susan Stroman’s BIG FISH and as ‘Michael Wormwood’ in the Tony Award-winning MATILDA, based on the 1988 children’s novel by Roald Dahl.  He was seen on the west coast in The Old Globe’s world premiere musical, NOBODY LOVES YOU and recently Alex starred as ‘Zangara’ in the off-Broadway production of ASSASSINS for Encores!/City Center.

On the side, Brightman enjoys teaching music and has taught for several years at Broadway Artist Alliance and Camp Broadway, as well as with his own class called “Alex Brightman Teaches You How to Kick Auditions in the Ass.”
