Read and Rant!

Read and Rant presents Fistful of Bees by Ayla Harrison – a Staged Reading September 17, 2012 at 7:00 pm

In the sticky heat of a 1933 North Carolina summer, Seymour, an odd young black boy, wanders into the woods and finds the affluent white housewife, Ellie Moss, in the arms of Lionel, a Carolina coal miner. The events spur a tense triangle when word hits town.

In this new Appalachian thriller Lionel, Ellie and Seymour blur the lines between the truth and a lie in a fight for their lives.

Aurora Fox is seeking ongoing members of its Play Reading Club:  Read and Rant.  We read 2-3 scripts each month and then meet on typically the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 7-10pm to discuss what we’ve read.  We are looking for scripts that may be a fit for the Fox to produce and to know what the Fox is looking for, you have to become a member of the club!  The only requirements to become a member are to attend the meetings and that the scripts you read are not discussed with anyone else outside of the group meeting.  Just like Vegas, our motto is “What happens in Read and Rant, stays in Read and Rant!”  Scripts that we are excited about and that might be a good fit make it into our Staged Reading Series called A Read and Rant Rave.  From the Rave Reading, we decide if it’s something the Fox wants to produce in an upcoming season.  Contact Angela Astle at aastle@aurorafoxartscenter.org for more info on how to get involved.
